Exhaust from burning leaded fuels deposits lead material on the ground (It's too heavy to float up in the atmosphere). The lead contaminates soil and water near roadways. Lead is a toxic material and its dangerous to human and animal health, so we don't want it in soil or water.

Unleaded gas is better for the environment because less carbon emissions are released into the air. That would lead to less pollution and less breathing problems for some.

It's very simple. Unleaded petrol's emission from combustion engine's is much less than the other petrol on the market with lead in it. Hence it's less harmful to the environment and our very important ozone layer. You can, by making sure that your vehicle is serviced properly and running at peek performance, save petrol and make your vehicles emission less.
