Your menstrual cycle is not related to your bowel movements. However, as a result of pre-menstrual bloating and cramping, you may sometimes experience more gas or diarrhea than usual around the time that your period is due to begin. This is caused by changes in the pressure in your abdomen, not by your cycle or bowel.

Your body under pressure acts like a domino effect, when it pushes on something, say the uterus, it pushes on your lower body. Similar to a baby that pushes up against a bladder causing frequent urinary episodes. Its normal, but too much should be checked out.
