Etheridge bills herself as a "breast cancer survivor," which means she has passed the anniversary of five cancer-free years. She has been on tour several times and released new music, which all indicate she's doing well.
Her cancer has gone into remission, and she is back making music cancer-free! She has become outspoken on the issue of cancer sponsoring several charities.
Etheridge has gone past the five-year mark of being cancer free following her surgery and treatment for breast cancer in 2004. She's doing well and has directed a lot of her efforts to the support of other survivors as well as medical research.
