Treatment usually focuses on minimizing pain and limiting exposure to further injury. You will likely take pain relievers, and may receive injections depending upon severity. You'll be instructed to eat high fiber foods to prevent constipation. You may also use a donut seat, and will be advised not to sit for too long, and to alternate sides while sitting.

Unless the tailbone (coccyx), threatens underlying structures there is no procedure for fixation. The tailbone is usually allowed to remain in place just like any small non-displaced fracture and will heal and eventually calcify on it's own.
