Finding an exact speed on a helicopter is tough task. It is all based on the design, model, and weight. For instance, the Lynx helicopter is the fastest in the world with speed exceeding 250 miles per hour, but most fly less than 150. Like most aircraft more weight means less speed.

The world record for helicopter speed is 249. 1 miles per hour, set in 1986. Helicopters generally fly at speeds under 200 miles per hour, due to limitations of its roter blade design.
