The Untied Methodists baptize babies, young children by sprinkling, or pouring a cup of water on their heads or immersion.

The United Methodist church uses the sprinkling method of baptism. The pastor will ask the family to come forward and they will baptize the child by sprinkling a small amount of water on their head and reciting a prayer of baptism. The church will then be asked to support the parents and child in their Christian faith.

Infant baptism or paedobaptism is typically done by just sprinkling water over the child's head. It is not like an adult baptism by immersion under water. There is usually a rite or ceremony that the priest or minister performs with the child's parents and/ or godparents present and is concluded by saying "I baptize you in the name of... ".

The United Methodist baptize a young child the same way they would baptize a baby. The parents make the baptismal pledge(since the child is too young to understand it)and water is sprinkled on the child's forehead or head. There may be godparents selected but it is not necessary.

I believe they hold a service in front of the congregation. The child's parents & godparents are present. The priest might pour some water on the child's head or form a cross on the child's forhead with the water.
