How does the development of fashion take place?

There are three things that influence fashion, ideas, convention and materials. By far the most important is convention. A fashion designer is always challenging convention. He may invent trousers or allow ladies to show their ankles. As for materials denim; for instance, allows one possibility, arse-grass another.

It takes place as time progresses. New idea's arise, if people like them, then that is considered a developments. Developments can also include using new types of fabric for clothes, or inventing clothing (for example, a shirt with 10 pockets, or shoes with computers in them). If it hasn't been done before, its a development.
