Once you become divorced you should notify your health care provider so your spouse cannot see any of your medical records or treatment. The HIPAA law states that your doctor cannot legally provide this confidential information to anyone.

The other parties lawyer can only get certain information from your health care establishment, and the establishment know what information he can get. Hipaa is privacy of anothers persons information but not all information is private.
