Unfortunately it doesn't affect growth at all. Your hair is dead, like your nails, and top layer of your skin...Nothing applied to the hair will make it grow faster.

I've heard that castor oil is good for your hair and nails. I'm not really sure if it makes your hair grow faster, but it makes it shiny and healthier.

It makes the hair grow thicker if anything. There is no fast or slow hair growth movement involved. Thus, you should use them on your eye lashes.
