Think about who your audience is and how to make what you are saying connect with them. Use vocabulary appropriate for whom you are talking and make it personal. Never go too cliche or too dry. Also, remember, in most cases people don't want to hear you go on and on. Brevity is key.

To ensure that you're organized while writing, begin with an outline. You'll need an introduction, body, and conclusion. You will want to begin with a good attention-grabbing statement--perhaps an interesting fact, a historical or personal anecdote, or a thought-stirring quote. Use appropriate language that seems natural to you, so that your speech does not sound forced or stiff.
