How do you use a compass to draw the perpendicular bisectors in geometry?

Call your points A and B. Step 1 is to draw a circle, centered at A, with radius equal to the length of AB. Step 2 is to draw a circle, centered at B, with the same radius. Your circles should intersect in two points, and the line through those points is the bisector.

Adjust your compass so that each arm rests on an endpoint of the line segment. Then draw a half circle. Repeat this, but this time move your compass so that the fixed point is on the opposite end point of your line segment. Now, using a straightedge, connect the two points where the half circles intersect.
