You can buy your 3 year old a book on how to draw faces or you can draw some faces yourself and have her practice copying them.

The way for children to become more creative in drawing is to show them how to draw and let them practice about once every single day and that's how my child learned.

First have the child try drawing different shapes, like circles, ovals, squares triangle, and rectangles. If a child can get down the basic shapes they will be able to put them into place and draw faces. You can also draw alongside with the child and show them examples.

Draw stick figures for you child and teach him or her how to do it by example. Then, if your child is still interested in drawing more complex faces as he/she gets older, enroll him/her in art lessons or buy drawing instruction books.

They learn as they do at any age: by observing faces. There is no magic. It takes practice and patience. Give him the tools he needs, praise his work and encourage him to do more. There are limitations at each age for coordination and ability. so expect nothing more than very, very basic interpretations.

First, start with drawing the basic shapes of the face, and focus on lines. Children learn about scale and detail later, so stick with the basic facial shapes.

First teach your son to draw circles, once he can draw circles he can draw the face and eyes with no problem and the smile is a simple line. After he has gotten the face teach him to draw lines for the body, arms and legs.

Most kids learn by copying others. Even if you are not an artist, you can draw a few faces for her to copy and then she will get the hang of it.

Teach them how to draw circles and then one they mastered this have them make face, show them how to add in eyes and nose. You can also suggest that they make eyeballs and show how to make a line for a smile.

I go to the library or somewhere that has information and get books that have a drawing book and you can use it to teach them.

Give your child a crayon and a piece of paper and ask your child to your face. See how they do and then go over the facial features.

There are some things that children learn to do on ther own at the right time. Anything you want to teach them before hand they would not learn.

Drawing books are available in book stall having face drawn in dotted lines. Same book you may find dotted lined drawings of ear, nose, eyes etc. Initially, you help him to draw over dotted lines and colour it. Slowly he will be interested to draw independantly and when he grow up, he will learn to draw portrates. Best of luck.
