How do you use a baby monitor?

You can't come running in every time the baby makes a noise, right?

That is the trick. I think monitors are best for when there is significant distance between you and baby. If your house is big and/or baby's room is not next to yours they can be useful. If you are outside, downstairs, etc. while baby naps it can be useful.

You basically want to use it to check if the baby has a problem/needs changed/needs fed/etc. It's just there to help you in situations where you might not hear. You shouldn't go in every time the baby cries anyway, so use the monitor to help you determine when it's necessary.
