During an active phase of tendonitis the important thing to do is to rest the injured area. Continued use will further irritate the affected area and will slow healing time. Often times medication is prescribed to address inflammation of the tendons. If continued to be bothersome, consult your medical doctor.

For some, tendonitis can be a problem for a lifetime. Physical therapy and strengthening the rotator cuff will help in the long run, but in the mean time use RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation) and over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pain killers like Motrin to get quick relief from the onset of pain and swelling.

As with any tendonitis rest is key but there are things you can do to lessin symptoms. Take anti inflamitories. Ice at the begining 20min on and 20min off. Then start the heat moist heat is the best so take a wet rag and place it on shoulder and put a heating pad over top

First you will want to take a break from any activity or sport you have been doing. Ice the area to help reduce inflammation. Then try to strengthen the muscle. If it to hard you will want to check out steroid injections to help with pain and swelling. If it is really hurting you, go to the doctors.
