Make sure to keep your dog warm and comfortable while it has a fever. The fever is most likly caused by an infection. You should bring your dog into your local vet to see what is causing the fever. They may prescribe antibiotics to cure the infection.

This is a genetic condition that can be life-threatening. The dog needs to see a vet for treatment. There are some things that can be done to make a dog prone to this malady more comfortable. The vet may try such a thing as a diet change. A low protein diet really helps some dogs.

Treatment will vary depending on severity of the disorder. You can try a drug called colchicine. It reduces frequency and severity of the fever, as well as help prevent future kidney and liver disease. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for pain are also helpful, which you need to get from your vet. Also: Put your dog on a low protein diet!

It's VERY important to take him to a vet. This is painful, the fever can be fatal or cause renal failure. You CAN'T treat this on your own, your vet needs to diagnose and start a treatment plan. PLEASE don't try to use human meds like aspirin, you'll kill your beloved friend out of kindness. Ask about low protein diets.
