How do you test thermal switches on electric dryers?

Your thermal switches on the electric dryer will only turn on if the dryer overheats. You don't want this to happen even in a test. To do so would be dangerous and would void the warranty on the dryer.

Unplug the dryer or turn off the circuit breaker before testing it. Then remove the screws on the control panel with your screwdriver and remove screws. Then pull switch out and look at the switch. Disconnect the wires from the switch but label them before putting reconnecting them after testing.
