It will swell up and be twice its normal size. It may hold paw up as walking on it would be very painful. There may be lumps or other injuries on cat. Check thoroughly.

Generally cats will not walk on a paw if it is broken. Obvious signs of a fracture would be protruding bones and extreme pain.

The most obvious sign of paw problems will be the cat refusing to use the paw or not stepping on it.

If the cat limps and is in pain and there are no outer wounds, it's probably broken and needs the attention of a vet.
