You should set some base rules of what is expected of him, although you should not expect a lot of communication. Instead, try using reciprocity in everything you do and give him some space.

In order to talk to a teenage boys you need to be short and to the point, precise but making sense to thier point of view.

It is hard to communicate with teen boys, because they like to do there own thing. Just pretend you are cool like them and mabey they will talk to you.
