Ingrown hair is created when you shave against the grain. This means pulling the razor up to your knee (from your ankle) when you are shaving your legs, or upwards towards your stomach when shaving your bikini-line. To prevent this, shave downwards carefully with lots of water or shaving cream.

Ingrown hairs are a pain. To get rid of them use a great soap that has alot of moisturizing ingredients, or shaving cream with aloe when you shave. Do not use razors on dry skin that will help them come back.

I've found they usually seem to go away on their own but often not fast enough to suit the discomfort and impatience most will experience when dealing with this ifliction. What seems to work best is removing them carefully with a pair of sterilized tweezers. If this fails to get the desired results many turn to electrolysis for permanent removal.

The key to getting rid of ingrown hairs is exfoliation. You need to keep exfoliating your skin properly in the areas that you shave in to ensure that you reduce and eventually eliminate ingrown hairs.

Don't shave for a few days, and use a moisturizing lotion. When you do shave again, use an exfoliating shave gel and a sharp razor. I would stay away from anything disposable or anything with less than 3 blades, where dull razors is often the reason the ingrown hairs appear. If they itch, try using lancaine once a day too.

Ingrown hairs are usually a result of improper shaving. Wet the skin before shaving and if using a manual razor, always shave in the direction of hair growth. Using an electric razor can prevent ingrown hair as well.

You should make sure your skin is exfoliated. Do not shave over the same area of skin multiple times. Shave in the same direction as your hair grows.
