Question by  sweetp (11)

How do you solve inequalities in one variable?

+6

Answer by  Liz59 (10966)

you treat it like an equation for example x+2> 1, so solve like an equation to determine x, any number that will make x+2 greater than 1, will be true for the letter x. Just follow the steps you would take in normal equations form that you learned back in grade 9

Combine like terms, so all variable coefficients are together and constants on other side of inequality. Divide out the coefficient and change inequality direction if coefficient was negative.
