How do you set the weights in the correct position in a Howard Miller grandfather's clock?

Depending on the type of clock,you should most likely have 3 weights. They should be labelled 'left', 'right', and 'center'. Be sure to put them on the correct pulleys or the clock will not work correctly. The weights should have Styrofoam blocks around them. Do not remove these until after your clock has been running for at least 24 hours.

Well the easiest way you can do this is by referring to the manual. There are step by step instructions on how to set the weights in the correct position. It's usually by resetting the clock though. The weights return to their original position that they were in rest. Try that.

The bottom of the weights should be marked with a "L" and a "R". The one marked "L" goes on the left and the "R" goes on the right.
