Brake shoes are more difficult than brake pads. You will need to add brake spring pliers, a retaining spring tool, and a drum brake adjustment tool to your collection.

Jack the vehicle up and remove the wheel. You will need a 10MM bolt to remove the brake drum from the assembly. Once you see the brake shoes you have to remove the springs that hold the shoes to the assembly.

First remove the wheel. Then remove the rear drum making sure the e-brake isn't on. Then dissemble the shoes paying attention to their order. Install the new shoes and adjust them so that they just drag. Then reverse the process.

Replacement of rear brakes on a Toyota Corolla depends upon the year the vehicle was made. Some year vehicles come with rear drum brakes while others have disc rear brakes.
