The transmission speed sensor is mounted in the transmission case. Locate the sensor and unplug the electrical connection. Depending on your application, the sensor can be mounted with a bolt or be screwed in. Remove the bolt or use a socket to unscrew the sensor.

To replace the transmission speed sensor you will have to disconnect it from the engine. This will require heavy unadjusting of the wire to get it into place. For this reason, it's best to consult a professional for this type of job, as there is a heavy risk for individuals to get hurt.

First, remove the wiring harness from the sensor. Next, remove the bolt holding the sensor in place. Take care in removing the old sensor as time, dirt and corrosion will have hardened the O-ring seal. Use brake cleaner to ease removal. Clean the hole well and reverse to install.
