How do you replace a governor gear on a Briggs & Stratton engine?

Carefully remove the springs and linkage, try not to bend or stretch them permanently. Now you are ready to take the governor gear off and replace with new one.

first i would suggest going to and typing in your question to find a step by step guide with pictures to go along with it, use this site to find out what exact part you will need because chances are the gear got destroyed when it was broken and its all torn up

Twist the springs and linkages carefully that they are not permanently bent or stretched then just remove the governor gear then replace it by another.

You will have to disassemble half the engine but once you do the govenor gear is the largest gear off the flywheel. Best to leave this to the experts.

First be careful to remove the gear from its linkage without and Bend or any break.Then you replace with new one. Be Careful to do this.
