How do you replace a Ford Ranger's gate cables?

After obtaining replacement cables, you simply unscrew the old cables from the tailgate with a large Torx bit and screw on the new ones.

unbolt them from the gate one at a time to prevent the gate from free falling then replace them with new , ten minute job.

There should be a tab at one end that you pull up on then slide out. Then just unbolt the other end from the gate.

You simply remove the old cables by unscrewing them from the tailgate with a screw and Torx bit. You are ready to place the new ones.

Open tail gate and look at end of cable it shoud be a large torx bolt remove bolt and bottom bolt should push down to larger opening. take off cable and replace new one. if you need other side done do that the same way

Firsy lower the tailgate to make this repair .If you do this one side at a time you will not need to find some thing to rest the tail gate on while you do the other side .After that remove the Hexhead bolts from the tailgate .Put the new cable on

Go to an auto parts store and get a manual for the rig, tell them the make and model of the rig.
