In order to renew your green card you need to reapply for it and complete most of the initial steps. However, the process is much easier since you lived in the country for ten years.
You simply fill out an I 90 form and file it at your closest USCIS District Office or sub-office. You can do this six months before the old one expires; the wait is now 10-12 months. The forms are available on the internet or by phone at 1-800-870-3676.
