How do you remove the back gate off of a truck?

On each side there are clips tha can detch by lifting th thin metal and moving upward to the lager part and slidig thm of. next one side has a key slot which can be lifted off by pulling up on the gate and sliding it to one side.

Lower the gate to a 45 degree angle, and start by removing the hinge and cable from the driver side, and then do the same with the other. after they are removed, slowly let the gate down, and it will slide down and pop out of slots at the bottom.

There are bolts in the bottom, also remove cable support, If it was me and the item just to long i leave gate on to give extra support

I recommend leaving the tailgate installed and just lowering it. If you must remove it, it should lift off if the support cables are detached, the tailgate is held at an angle, and then one corner should lift free, then the whole thing should come loose. Check your owner's manual.

To remove a tailgate off of a truck you lift the tailgate a little and then while pressing the hinge you then slide the hinge off and lift tailgate off.

Well you have to cut it off by using a crow bar. That's the only way. Or you can go into a garage and have them do it for you so that it looks very professional. That would be the best way to do this. But yes it will be permanent.

The tail gate has these cords connected to them, all you have to do is unlatch the cords and pick the tailgate up. It does weigh around 20-40 pounds though.

Unhook the two wire things that attach to the side. Then disconnect the gate from the hinge at the bottom of the bed.

If you are trying to remove the back gate off of your truck then you will need to take out all of the screws.
