How do you remove rust from a motorcycle?

I live in an area that they put salt down on the road for weather related conditions and now my motorcycle has rust on it.

Well, if you are totally stripping the bike I have personally used COKE (the soda) I sprayed it down for three days straight and then I proceded to sand and refinish tne bike. It is a tedious job but, hey, it looks a lot better and it was cheaper than a repair job.

You need to sand the rust off NOW. Once you get to shinny metal, spray paint it with primer. Don't sand it and leave it, it will just rust again. Just remember that the longer the rust stays on that part, the more damage it will cause, and you might be better off replacing it.

There are a lot of chemicals out there that say they will do just that. Start buy doing some research online to see what people have used and what results they had. Forums will give you a lot of tips on the best way to remove the rust without damaging your bike.

Rust can either be chemically or manually removed. To chemically remove it apply rust converter to it. Sandpaper or a wire wheel can be used to manually remove it.
