In clothing, you can buy a chemical called Iron Out at Wal mart that will take the stains out. It's expensive but it does work. Iron stains on other surfaces take time and elbow grease.

When it comes to iron stains I always use warm solution of citric acid. It`s concentration depends of fouling factor and arranges from 0.07 to 0.7 oz per glass of water. Get wet the stain with this solution for several minutes then rinse with water. It is better to use for rinsing light solution of household soda to neutralize acid.

They make cleaner specifically for removing stains like that. Try something like CLR if it can be used on what ever got stained.
