Having been a carpet cleaner for many years I can tell you the best way is to use a citrus product but if you do not have any you can also use a white cloth with vinegar, scrub, rinse and repeat as needed. Mineral spirits will also work instead of citrus or vinegar.

Freeze it and try to chip it off the carpet. Or if its not too much you can try and cut it out.

There are many cleaners that could remove carpet glue or any many other types of glue. One of those products is "goof off". There are also products such as "goo gone". They can be purchased at stores like Home Depot or Lowes. Use saftey glasses and gloves when using products like these.

Go to the hardware store and pick up something called Goo Gone. Follow the directions on the back of Goo Gone. You might also be able to use nail polish remover, but I'd be very careful with that.

While removing the frustrating yellow carpet glue can be a pain, it's not impossible. Get a pot of boiling water and a flat scraper. Drench the glue in that boiling water and let it sit for a few minutes, then scrape away as it becomes pliable.
