How do you remove a stock stereo in a car?

Answer by  brians6000 (640)

First look for screws or connector that hold the trim around the stereo in place. Some stock stereos are held in place by screws in the front, others by screws underneath or behind. Remove the appropriate trim to get to such screws. There will be a wires/connectors to also remove.

This process varies from year to year and model to model. Without knowing more about the car I can't tell you the process. Look online for a tutorial and information.

There is a different procedure for removing car stereos from different cars. Look online on car audio forums or contact your local stereo shops to see if the can tell you how to do it on your specific model.

If it was installed with a cage, the removal keys will work. slide them inbetween the radio and the cage on the sides and the radio will slide right out.
