How do you read degrees on a compass?

First, point the compass in the desired direction. The line that the South end of the needle points to represents the degree number for that bearing. Look at the numbers printed on either side of the line and count the lines in between to read the degrees.

you can read the degrees by looking at the long arm on the surface of the compass and then you just refer to the degree symbol that is displayed on there
