It's very difficult. You need proof that a person defamed you deliberately, and that the information was deliberately false. You may also need to establish malicious intent. Generally though, if someone spreads something bad about you that they believed in good faith, you can't. Otherwise, you really need a recording.

You must prove that you suffered real, provable harm that caused loss (or employment, reputation, opportunity. You must establish, too, that these things existed before they were lost.

You would have to have proof about the person or person's trying to slander you. You need to have witnesses. You will need some kind of proof that this person is trying to slander you.
