How do you program a scanner?

When you buy a scanner it allows you to program it using direct keypad entry, so at the time of purchase you should buy a book to go along with the scanner that will list the codes for what you want to listen to.

FIrst you have to find the code for the channel you want to listen to then you type the channel into the number pad on the scanner
