How do you prevent water in a doorway?

The slope to the door is going toward the house and not away from the house. Build up area so the water flows away from the house or doorway.

Often the area in front of your door is low due to repeated traffic- you can dig it up, allow for drainage and build it back up, you can trench it out for drainage, or short term quick solution you can get a free wooden pallet, etc, to allow the pedestrian to stay out of the puddling.

Make sure that floor is level under doorway. Check that area in front and back of doorway doesn't slope down towards doorway. If it does, you will have to make adjustments to fix the slope. Also, check surrounding area to insure that there are no holes or spots that can collect water.

You should buy something that would stop water from coming in. Go to your local hardware store and you should be able to find or even create something that is sturdy enough to hold water from pouring in. There may not be anything in particular, so be creative and think of materials that would work.
