You need a law enforcement connection to actually check to see if there's a warrant. If you know the jurisdiction the warrant is from, you can check that. Also, bench warrants you should be able to check through the court system.

Many police and court websites now allow you to check online for outstanding warrants. If yours doesn't, call your local sheriff's department and they'd be able to help you find the needed information.
