Measure yarn to be 8 inches long, cut until you have four strands. Take two strands, even at each end, at a time, using your crochet hook to pull them part way through a hole at the second row, which will give you a loop. Have one half of your strands on each side. Tie strands to make a double knot.

The easiest tassle for a scarf: cut yarn twice the length that is desired (bundles of like 10). Take the yarn and fold in half (there should be a loop on one side)insert loop into end of scarf pass yarn ends through loops and pull tight. Repeat as needed.

I wind yarn around a hardcover book and then cut the yarn at an edge. Then I gather 5-10 strands fold them in half and use a crochet hook to thread them through my project until the loop is approximately 1" out of the scarf. Then I use the hook to gather the ends & pull through the loop.

Cut 8 pieces of yarn about 3 inches long, insert your crochet needle into the stitch you want the tassel to hang from and pull the pieces of yarn through at the same time. When the yarn pieces are hanging even on each side, tie a knot to make the tassel.
