Tyring to not hurt anyone's feelings when creating a seating chart for a wedding reception is nearly impossible. The best plan of attack is to pair up tables by personality and preferences and go from there.

To do a wedding seating chart, first arrange larger groups/familes. If they have seats left, join them with people from the same side of the family, or people with similar tastes/interests. People expect to interact with strangers at weddings, just do your best and people will handle it just fine.
