There are two possibilities. First you can check the manual of the iron. It should give you indications on what setting to use for what kind of tissue. The second possibility is to consult the label of the clothes. They usually indicate how to wash and iron them by means of small symbols.

You absolutely need to read the clothing label. Different fabrics call for different settings, you can easily burn or melf a garment if you dont pay attention.
