How do you know if you are having unnecessary surgery?

It is difficult to tell if the surgery is truly necessary unless you consult the opinions of other doctors regarding the surgery. Having 2nd opinion from another doctor is beneficial.

You must be confident in your physician's assessment. If you are not, seek another consultation--a second opinion--and ask what other options are available.
