How do you keep a big dog from jumping on you?

Do NOT step on his feet, he'll only learn distrust. Put him on a short leash, have people walk up and physically disallow him from jumping up. Ask people to help. Use judicious treats and lavish praise. Don't allow people to approach him while training, except on the leash.

You might want to try using a spray bottle to spray the dog when he jumps on people. I do that instead of putting my knee into the dog's chest.

First of all, your dog might be friendly... but she is undoubtedly dominant as well! This happens when a dominant dog gets overexcited. The best thing to do is correct your dog, don't pet her when she does it, you will only reinforce the behavior. Turn your back to her.

Like anything else you are going to have to work with it. You will have to yell at it every time it jumps on someone.
