How do you help dogs with blocked bowels?

Several issues can cause a blocked bowel. Make sure there is no true medical issue (tumor or cyst, etc.) or a foreign substance in the small intestine or colon. Adding organic pumpkin to the diet, adding Probiotics, making sure the dog is drinking enough water and getting appropriate exercise should help.

Feed your dog food like rice or chicken soup. You may need to take your dog to the vet because she may have a bowel disorder. Do not give your dog any pills or drugs made for human use. I would recommend taking her/him to the vet if this is happening for a while.

Blocked bowels can be a medical emergency. Your vet may need to operate to open the bowels to save the dog's life.

If you suspect your dog has an obstruction, rush the dog to the vet immediately. They can perform surgery to remove the obstruction causing the blocked bowels.

If it is blocked with something other than poop it needs to go to the vet. If it is just poop then he needs more fiber in his food.
