How do you handle a toddler who hits other kids at daycare?

I think that talking with him or her and explaining that hitting our friends is not a nice thing to do and that it makes them sad is a good start. But the most important thing to do is to determine what your child's currency is and take that away from him or her as a form of punishment.

Explain to the child why this is not allowed. Take them away from other children if the problem persists. Enforce nice habits in all functions of life.

At first I would give him a time out. Tell the parents and ask them how they handle this at home. Maybe this is for attention. Let him participate in a project and it this happens take him out of the project until he apologizes then let come back. Repeat.
