Sometimes toddlers develop odd idiosyncrasies that they will eventually grow out of. This could be one of those. However, one symptom of autism is the need for constant sensory stimulation. If your toddler is otherwise normal, he could be okay, but really this is a delicate situation that you should speak to a medical professional about.

Toddlers are very inquisitive and normally adopt different types of attachments to people and yes, to objects. This does not appear to be an issue of security and is likely not something to worry about.

It is not always wrong if your toddler wants to have something in his hand. Some children have the habit of having something in the hand. Observe the child for some days and try to distract his attention by engaging him in some other work or consult a doctor.

The urge for a small child to hold something is known as the "grasp reflex". It is perfectly normal and nothing to be alarmed about.

It is nothing wrong in toddler always handling something in his hands. It could be a natural phenomenon in toddlers. It would be cured in due course as the age passes.
