Plant in the spring in moist level soil that has good drainage. The ph of the soil should be 6.0 to 8.0, plant the seedlings 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep. They need about 6 inches of water during the season, and should be ready for harvest in July.

Lentils are beautiful plants that are grown like beans, but don't look like beans in the garden. Familiarise yourself with the look of the plant so that you don't accidentally weed them up. Lentils can dry on the plant, or you can uproot the plant and dry them upside down inside where wildlife is less likely to eat them.
