First, buy a lemon. Try to find a variety that will grow in your area. Harvest the seeds and place them in potting soil in a styrofoam cup. Put the cup on a windowsill out of direct sunlight. Water every few days. When the plant sprouts, transplant to a pot and continue your care.

Rinse lemon seeds with water. Germinate seeds by wrapping them up in several paper towels. Keep the paper towels moist until you see small roots emerging from the seeds. Once this happens, the seeds are ready to be transplanted into a small cup of soil for further growth.

Lemon trees require climates that rarely reach freezing and have long warm summers. Most can be grown in a large pot or in the ground. Use a well drained soil mix. Use specialized fertilizer during growing season. Regular water but let soil get dry to touch. Less water in winter.

You place a fresh lemon seed in moist soil. This is to be kept in a somewhat warm area. It is highly important that once it sprouts that you let it grow in a warm environment.
