You can use an adhesive or mastic remover to remove carpet adhesive. Adhesive removers are acidic so test it first to make sure it doesn't damage your floor. After testing and there is no damage, apply it with a sponge or brush and let it sit for around 30 min. You can then scrape the carpet adhesive to remove it.

Buy some carpet adhesive remover and apply it with a paintbrush. Let it soften the glue and then use a plastic putty knife to gently scrape away the old glue. Then apply some more remover and wipe away the rest of the glue with a rag. Thoroughly clean the floor afterwards. Beware this can be a long and repetitive task.
