How do you go about programming the transmission of a F150?

The F150 may be programmed using the on-board computer however you should not attempt this unless you are confident at programming a transmission with the F150 you will want to make the first few gear transitions quite short and gradually increasing, if your F150 does not have an on-board computer you will have to have a professional do the job.

The best solution is to refer to a repair manual. In the absence of a repair manual, disconnect both battery terminals, wait one minute and reconnect. It should program itself.

The new F150's need computer programming. You can't do it manually anymore, they switched to computer in 1997. You can buy the Ford TrannyProg online or borrow it from dealer.
