The Cairn has a wiry coat that requires stripping rather than cutting. They should have plenty of hair on the head, and tidy on the ears, tail, and feet.

A carin terrier needs to be groomed in the same way as any other medium hair dog - with regular brushing, washing, and nail clipping.

Cairn terrier dogs have pretty long, curly hair, so the best way to groom a cairn terrier is to make sure you have the correct supplies (for long haired dogs), use good shampoos and conditioners, and cut the hair that is stray or sticking out, make sure it is even.

I know you should buy a very goog grooming brush because they have long hair and that could be a pain for both you and your cairn terrior. Or you can buy this pet groomer which I saw on tv and at walgreens, they guarantee it doesn't hurt pets and it works. I mostly recommend that.

The Cairn doesn't require much grooming - they look the cutest when they are a little scruffy. First of all, do not trim your Cairn's hair with scissors - they should be "stripped". You should be able to get a good stripping tool online or at a petstore such as Petsmart. Also, keep excess hair trimmed out of their ears.
