How do you go about connecting copper plumbing to pvc?

There are code approved methods for making copper to pvc connections. One is the use of male and female threaded adapters. Another and easier method for drain lines is to use an elastomeric coupling. This is basically a rubber sleeve, sized for the outer pipe dimensions, that has a metal sleeve around it with tightening bolts.

You can connect copper pipe to a pvc pipe by using a non manipulative compression fittings or a Push fit. with non manipulative compression fittings the copper pipe should have a olive and so should the pvc pipe. with Push fit the copper pipe and pvc would both have inserts.

There are several ways depending on the size. A fitting called a gator-bite will work on smaller pipe. For larger pipe you will need to use a Fernco coupling.

Normally you could solder on a male pipe thread adapter and then use a female plastic adapter. If it is CPVC plastic, a compression fitting can be used if the pressure does not exceed 60 lbs. There are some special unions at Lowe's that adapt CPVC to copper.

There are several fittings on the market. The simplest one available is a fernco coupling. This has a rubber boot and clamps. They hold well. Also a threaded adapter

You need to solder a slip to thread male adapter to the copper pipe and then glue a female adapter of the same thread to the pvc pipe.

You can join copper pipe to PVC with a brass compression fitting as long as you have the correct fitting it will connect no trouble,

Copper and Pvc plumbing are not interconnectable. If you live in an area where temperature changes fluctuate this connection is likely to crack and leak. It can be done but it is not adviseable

Go to a plumbing supply warehouse, and pickup an adaptor. They are usually brass to CPVC. You can sweat the brass to the copper and run PVC from the CPVC.

you would have to have a couple of couplings. As a matter of fact u would probably need a male adaptor and plug it into a piece of pvc pipe.
